When devices have been connected to the Connectware they will output data onto MQTT topics for consumption. The Data Explorer allows you to graphically interact with these topics and view their respective data.
How to use it¶
After you have connected a Device to the Connectware, navigate to the explorer section of the admin-ui. You will be presented with a view with three sections like the picture below.
The Topics section of the Data Explorer will allow you to view all current topics that are available in your Connectware in a hierarchical structure. The base topics are at the highest level and the down arrows allow you to go descend into a topic structure until you reach the desired endpoint.
Once the desired endpoint is found, click the eye icon on the topic and it will be added to the monitored items. If you wish to remove a monitored item simply click the eye icon on the selected item again.
The Monitor section of the Data Explorer will allow you to view all topics, and their respective data, that are currently selected from the Topic section. If you wish to remove an item from the Monitor simple click the trash icon on the topic you would like to remove.
Once the Device has published an update to a monitored topic the data of that topic will be updated in the UI. If this data was JSON or raw number you will see the value in plain text. If it was binary you will see a drop down arrow that will allow you select the data type. Once a type is selected the monitored item will display the data as that type.
The History section of the Data Explorer will allow you to view logs of all updates from from the currently monitored devices. Once a monitored device publishes an update a log will be added to the History.
If you wish to view a specific log from a device you can pause updates from devices by clicking the pause icon in the right corner of the History section. If you wish to receive updates again then simple click the icon again.
If you want to clear out all the recorded logs click the trash icon in the right hand corner of the History section.
